Indore men who beat Talseem Ali being identified
The Madhya Pradesh Police have lodged a case against a group of persons for beating Tasleem Ali, a bangle seller of Indore in full public view after a video of the incident had gone viral on the social media.
Indore SP Aushutosh Bagri said an FIR has been registered in the case and the identity of the attackers is being ascertained through the video clip that was in circulation.
The video clip shows a young person being beaten by a couple of persons in the middle of a busy road, others ransacking his box and breaking the bangles as he continues to plead for mercy and help.
The bangle seller later said he was robbed of Rs 10,000, his mobile phone and Bangles worth Rs 25,000 were destroyed by the mob.
Ashutosh Bagri said that stringent action will be taken against the accused.
In the clip, people are heard saying,"Take whatever you want. He should not be seen in this area anymore."
Later, the same man invites people to come beat up the bangle seller, in another video 3-4 men beat him as Tasleem tries to escape.
When state Home Minister Narottam Mishra was asked to comment on the incident, he told the media that the Bangle seller was using a Hindu name and was also in possession of two Aadhaar cards that have since been recovered.
Late evening, a group of people came to the Indore police headquarters and protested against the incident. Police have booked them for raising inappropriate slogans.
