  Guwahati's cycling community turns relief riders amid Covid The Guwahati cycling community, which had started its mission a couple of years ago to protect the environment and save fuel, besides popularising cycling as a mode of recreation, is now helping Covid patients, ailing people and senior citizens. The 'Cycling Community' of Guwahati launched the 'Relief Riders' mission two weeks ago to serve Covid patients, ailing people, senior citizens and those in distress with essential items, including food and medicines. One of the pioneers of the 'Relief Riders' mission, Arshel Akhter, said that riding their bicycles, the members of the cycling community are delivering prepared food, medicines, vegetables, fruits, groceries and other essential items to those in need without charging anything for delivery. NSA Doval commissions Coast Guard patrol vessel Sajag

In line with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of AtmaNirbhar Bharat, National Security  Advisor Ajit Doval commissioned Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) Sajag through digital means and dedicated it to the nation for safeguarding the maritime interests on May 29, 2021. OPV Sajag is constructed by M/s Goa Shipyard Limited. Defence Secretary Dr Ajay Kumar, Indian Coast Guard Director General K Natarajan and CMD Goa shipyard Cmde BB Nagpal (Retd) were among those who attended the event.        In his address, Ajit Doval said the concept of forming ICG came into being post 1971 war, when it was assessed that maritime borders are equally vital as land borders. Two Mumbai school girls launch mission to save Matheran's starving horses and their impoverished owners

  Dania and Rida Khan, students of the Bombay Scottish School, are campaigning to save the horses of Matheran, a popular hill resort close to Mumbai, Maharashtra, who face starvation as their owners have lost their livelihood because of the Covid-19 pandemic Dania, 12 and Rida Khan, 15, are sisters. Both of them have raised Rs 3 lakhs through crowdfunding to raise support for the horse owners and also the horses. They buy rations and prepare kits to be distributed among the owners of the horses and also fodder and water for the animals. Matheran, about 110 km from Mumbai, has a population of around 10,000; almost all are dependent on tourism. Tourists here often ride horses.
